Scheduling Interviews

I am interested in scheduling on campus interviews at UT Austin.  What do I do?
On-campus interviews are scheduled throughout the year for fall and spring semesters.  You may schedule an interview date up to a year in advance by contacting Denise Mendoza at (512) 471-7476.  Denise will then guide you through the rest of the pre-interview process.

I am interested in scheduling an information session prior to my on campus interviews.

What do I do?
To schedule an information session, log in to our web site using your company’s UT EID and password and complete the "Request an Information Session" form.  The link for this form is located below your activity summary.  Denise Mendoza will reserve a general purpose classroom for you and email you to confirm the location.  If your company does not have an EID and password, contact Denise Mendoza at (512) 471-7476 and she will create an EID for your company.

I cannot come to campus to interview, but I am interested in hiring UT students.  Can I schedule an electronic resume drop? How do I get resumes?
Online resume submission is reserved for companies who are coming to campus to interview students.
Companies who cannot participate in on-campus interviews are welcome to post their jobs on our online job board.  Students review the jobs and email their resume directly to you or follow any application instructions you provide in the job description.  The job board system cannot collect resumes for you.  Back to top

I don't know my UT EID and/or password.  Can you tell me what it is?

If you are not your company’s primary hiring manager or HR representative, please contact that person within your organization to obtain the EID and password that has been assigned to your company.

If you are the hiring manager or HR contact and you have forgotten your password, contact the ECAC Recruiting Coordinator, Denise Mendoza, at (512) 471-7476 to have your password reset.

If your company is new to recruiting with ECAC, please do not attempt to create a UT EID yourself.  Denise can set up an EID for you that our employer interactive system will recognize.  Our employer interactive system will not recognize personal EIDs.

I tried to log in and received a message that my EID is locked.  What do I do?

The locked EID message appears due to too many invalid login attempts.  You must contact the Denise Mendoza, (512) 471-7476, to have your password reset.

Our pre-select system is completely web based, and you must log in to the secured web site to complete the forms.

What is the difference between completing an "Interview Information Form" and posting a job to the "Job Board"?
The Interview Information Form is part of our on-campus interview pre-select system.  This form serves as your job posting, and must be completed in order for students to submit resumes for your on-campus interviews.
The job board is used by companies who cannot come to campus to interview, but would still like to receive resumes from our students.  The job board is not part of the pre-select system.  Jobs posted to the job board will not be run in our weekly interview lists for on-campus interviews.

Why do students only have 3 days to submit resumes?

Each week students have a 3 day window to view employers coming to campus to interview during a scheduled week.  We have found, from talking to our students, that this window of time is efficient, and they appreciate the consistent schedule.

Can resume submission dates and selection due dates be extended?

We must hold to the deadlines.  Changing the system for an individual changes it for everyone.  Extending deadlines leaves students confused and can make a bad impression on them if an employer does it.

A student did not list his/her GPA on their resume.  Can your office give me that information?

No.  The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that pertains to the release of and access to student educational records.  FERPA prohibits us from giving out GPA information without consent from of the student.

Why does the student’s resume include “Permanent Resident” in the residency status section when I requested “U.S. Citizens Only”?

We are required to display employability status with “US Citizen” and “Permanent Resident” combined.  Permanent residents cannot be excluded from employment opportunities unless U.S. Citizenship is required for the position.

I met a student at Expo.  Can I interview him/her on my pre-select schedule?

Yes.  You can request that engineering students you met at Expo be added to your list of selections if you are able to get us their names by the pre-select selections due date (see recruiting calendar for deadlines)Please contact Joanne Meziere at joanne.meziere@mail.utexas.edu or (512) 471-7455 and she will explain the process of adding students to your selection list.

When adding Expo students to pre-select schedules, keep in mind that students are not required to sign up for a time slot if you select them for an interview.  Students are only obligated to sign up for time slots if they submit their resume to you through the pre-select system.

A second option for interviewing expo students is to reserve a closed schedule and schedule the expo students yourself.

Why am I limited to the number of non-engineering students I can interview in ECAC?

Since UT Austin is a decentralized university, each school/college must serve the needs of its students.  We understand the need of some employers to recruit across different schools/colleges, but it is important that employers establish and maintain a relationship with each school/college by recruiting through them.  However, we are aware that on occasion, an employer may need to interview a minimal number of non-engineering students.  We can support these interviews provided they do not exceed 25% of the students interviewed, as agreed by the separate school/colleges on campus.

How or when can I view my interview schedule?  Will I be notified when the schedule is complete?
Students begin choosing interview time slots the Thursday before the week of interviews at 10:45 am central time, and continue to choose interview times through Saturday at midnight.  You may view the status of sign-ups by logging into the ECAC web site and choosing "View Interview Schedules" anytime after 10:45 am, the Thursday prior to your visit.  You will not be notified when the schedule is complete, but will be given a complete schedule when you check in the day of your recruiting visit.
