Co-op Experience and PE Licensure | |
|
A Professional Engineering license is a professional registration that demonstrates competence and experience in an individual's chosen field of engineering. You must have four years of engineering experience before you can apply for your PE license. In some states, including Texas, co-op experience can count toward those four years. When you apply for your PE license, you will be asked to document all of your engineering experience in detail, so it is important to keep an accurate record of your technical experience as a co-op student. The co-op work report guidelines are designed with that purpose in mind. The Texas Board of Professional Engineers provides detailed information on the type of experience and necessary documentation in their Basic Requirements for Licensure.
