I corrected my IDA Planner, but my application has still not been approved.
1. I can't access the co-op application. What's wrong?
a. Have you attended a Co-op Information Session? You must
attend an Info Session in order to be granted access to the
co-op application.
b. Are you selecting the correct link? Choose "Application
Process" in the navigation bar at the left, and then click
"online application."
c. Is this an application period? If this semester's
application deadline has already passed, you will not be able to
access the application until the next application period.
Applications are accepted at the beginning of each fall and
spring semester.
d. If you still cannot access the application, please
contact the Co-op Office at 512-471-5954.
2. How do I create a Degree Audit?
When viewing your application, scroll down and select the IDA Planner hyperlink.
In the IDA Main Menu navigation bar, select "Create Audit." You will then
select the degree plan for which you want an audit. It may take several
minutes for the audit to be created, so please be patient.
3. What is the IDA
Planner?
The IDA Planner is an Interactive Degree Audit that you fill out to show the
Co-op Office the semesters in which you plan to complete your co-op work terms and the courses
you plan to take in between co-op semesters and afterwards.
4. Will
the IDA planner lock me into taking the courses that I list?
No, this is just a guideline. The Co-op Office understands that this plan
is subject to change.
5. On my IDA
Planner, how do I indicate which semesters I want to co-op?
Use the major code and co-op course designations for the semesters in which you
want to work.
a. For a two-term co-op:
i. First co-op semester (225MA): : Example: Spring 2008 ME 225MA
ii. Second co-op semester (225MB): : Example: Summer 2008 ME 225MB
b. For a three-term co-op:
i. First co-op semester (325LX): : Example: Fall 2008 ASE 325LX
ii. Second co-op semester (325LY): : Example: Summer 2009 ASE 325LY
iii. Third co-op semester (325LZ): : Example: Fall 2009 ASE 325LZ
6. What if I don't
know how many semesters I will co-op?
Because the IDA Planner does not lock you into the plan you indicate, you are
free to indicate your ideal number of co-op terms, with the understanding that
this is subject to change.
7.
What if I have not yet chosen a technical area? Because the IDA Planner does not lock you into the plan you indicate, choose a
likely technical area and list those courses, with the understanding that this
is subject to change.
8.
What if I have less than a full course load after my final term of co-op? Please come to the Co-op Office and discuss your situation with a Co-op
Counselor.
9. Can I take classes while
co-oping? You can take up to four hours while you co-op. If you are interested in
taking more hours than that, you will need to get pre-approval from the Student
Affairs Office.
10.
Why was my application returned to me? You did not complete your IDA Planner correctly. Common
mistakes include: * Failure to indicate the semester you want to co-op or
listing the wrong co-op course numbers (See
FAQ #5) * Failure to list a full course load in the semesters between your co-op terms
and in the semester following you final co-op term
*
Listing more than 4 additional hours of coursework during the semesters in which
you plan to co-op (See FAQ #9)
*
Failure to elect one long semester (Fall or Spring) as a co-op work term or
electing two long semesters back-to-back (Fall and then Spring) as co-op work
terms
11.
What do I do if my application is returned to me?
Correct any mistakes (See
FAQ #10) and resubmit your application.
12. I corrected my IDA
Planner, but my application has still not been approved.
Be sure to click the "Submit Application" button at the bottom of the co-op
application. Until you have clicked this button, your updates will not be
viewable to the Co-op Office.
